About Kate

Kate Hu is a Mandarin and English speaking Counsellor (In Training) in her second year of the Master of Counselling at Monash University, and she holds a Bachelor of Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Alongside formal counselling training, she brings substantial real-world experience supporting clients through change—especially in relationships and career transitions.

Kate has 5 years of experience in dating and relationship coaching, supporting singles and couples to understand relational patterns, communicate more clearly, navigate conflict, and build healthier, more satisfying connections. Her relationship work is informed by her training in the Gottman Method (Level 1 and Level 2), providing practical, research-based tools to strengthen connection and resolve ongoing conflict.

Before transitioning into coaching and counselling, Kate spent 6 years in the Finance and FinTech industry. Having navigated a career change herself, she is especially passionate about supporting early- and mid-career professionals who are facing uncertainty, identity shifts, self-doubt, or decision fatigue—so they can move forward with more clarity, confidence, and direction.

Kate is originally from mainland China, and she understands the cultural layers that can show up in counselling—such as family expectations, achievement pressure, “saving face,” cross-cultural relationships, and adjusting to life in Hong Kong or overseas. She aims to offer Mandarin-speaking clients a grounded, respectful space that supports both emotional depth and practical change.

What clients can expect in sessions

  • A warm, non-judgmental space to speak openly
  • Clear goals, gentle structure, and practical tools when helpful
  • Support to understand emotions and patterns—not only symptoms
  • Respect for each client’s pace, privacy, and cultural background
